Departmental Induction for GPSTs

Departmental Induction Checklist

It is mandatory that all new medical trainees receive a Departmental Induction at the start of their placement.

Why?

This Induction is designed to give you a formal introduction to your departmental processes.  It is conducted by your Clinical Supervisor on a one to one basis, or more usually, by a Department Induction Lead within the department, to a group of new trainees.

When?

The Departmental Induction should be completed within TWO WEEKS of commencing your placement.

It is the responsibility of the trainee to ensure that the form is completed and returned to Dawn Grindrod the Deputy Postgraduate Manager within that time frame.

Evidence

You will be asked to complete a Departmental Induction Checklist (printed forms listed below) with either your Clinical Supervisor or Department Induction Lead.

The Checklist must be completed and signed by both you and your Clinical Supervisor/Department Induction Lead when you both agree that all elements have been adequately covered.  Checklists submitted without signatures will be rejected.

Cross Cover

If you are working in an area where cross cover occurs, you must ensure that you receive a Departmental Induction in both areas.
