Healthcare Support Worker Level 2

Role – Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) work as part of a team providing high quality and compassionate care to individuals. You will carry out well-defined routine clinical duties, like monitoring an individual’s conditions (by checking things like blood pressure, temperature or weight), checking on their overall progress, comfort and wellbeing. You may also help them to eat, drink, wash, dress or go to the toilet. You will be caring and compassionate; honest; conscientious and committed

Who – This Apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices.

Delivery Model – This Apprenticeship can be completed in the workplace

Duration – Typically 15-18 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade D/5 have not been previously achieved, Functional Skills English and maths at level 1 will be completed alongside the Apprenticeship.

Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3

Role – You provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence. You may work in a range of services across the hospital estate. You will be caring and compassionate; honest; conscientious and committed.

Who – This Apprenticeship can be utilised by Healthcare Assistants both new to the organisation and/or existing members of staff. Completion supports enrolment onto the Assistant Practitioner, Trainee Nurse Associate, or 4 Year Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeships when opportunities become available and via successful interview.

Delivery Model – Combination of face to face and remote delivery, 1.5 days per month.

Duration – Typically 18-24 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, Functional Skills English and maths at level 2 will be completed alongside the Apprenticeship as a mandatory element.

Trainee Assistant Practitioner (TAP) Level 5

Role – The TAP role works as part of the wider health and social care team having direct contact with patients to provide high quality and compassionate care. TAP’s work at a level above Healthcare Support Workers having a more in depth understanding about factors that influence Health. The TAP is a two year Foundation Degree Healthcare Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship programme, combined with academic and work-based learning in partnership with the Trust and UCLan. Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship programme you will gain a Level 5 Foundation Degree Assistant Practitioner and be equipped with the core skills, knowledge, values, and behaviours to become a competent Assistant Practitioner.

Who – This Apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as Apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this Apprenticeship to develop their knowledge and skills.

Delivery Model – Face to face tuition / remote learning

Duration – Typically 24 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – Apprentices will be required to have their English and maths GCSE at Grade C/4-9 or equivalent upon entry and a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent (48 UCAS points). All entrants onto this Apprenticeship must also have at least 12 months of recent healthcare experience.

Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) Level 5

Role – The TNA is a highly trained generic Nursing support role, designed to bridge the gap between Healthcare Support Workers and Registered Nurses to deliver hands on, person centred care as part of the Nursing team. The two year apprenticeship programme combines academic and work-based learning through partnership between the Trust and UCLan. Upon successful completion of the Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship you will gain a Level 5 Registered Nursing Associate Foundation Degree with NMC registration, and be fit to practice in a wide range of settings. You will be accountable and equipped with a breadth of knowledge, skills and capabilities required for the role.

Who – This Apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this Apprenticeship to develop their knowledge and skills.

Delivery Model – Face to face tuition / remote learning

Duration – Typically 24-28 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – Apprentices will be required to have their English and maths GCSE at Grade C/4-9 or equivalent upon entry and a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent (48 UCAS points). All entrants onto this Apprenticeship must also have at least 12 months of recent healthcare experience.

Registered Nurse (RNDA) Level 6 Top Up Route

Role – The RNDA programme is funded by the Trust and is delivered in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). The RNDA will develop skills, knowledge, and behaviours in clinical practice and contribute to delivering evidence based care in accordance to the NMC standards of proficiencies for the Registered Nurse. The RNDA is a highly trained role to support the delivery of effective, safe and responsive care in and across a wide range of health and care settings.

Who – This is an opportunity for Registered Nursing Associates and Assistant Practitioners who have Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL).

Delivery Model – Face to face tuition / remote learning

Duration – Typically 24 Months to include End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements This is a funded two year programme which enables Assistant Practitioners and Nurse Associates to enhance their skills and knowledge to develop evidence based nursing care in accordance to the NMC standards and proficiencies for the Registered Nurse. You will be eligible to apply through Accredited Recognition Prior Learning. Must have 12 months experience as Nursing Associate / Assistant Practitioner.

Entry Requirements Apprentices will be required to have 96 UCAS points. English and maths GCSE at Grade C/4-9 or equivalent upon entry and a BTEC/A levels or equivalent is required. All entrants onto this Apprenticeship must also have at least 12 Months minimum healthcare experience.
