Eat Well

Healthy eating is essential in leading a healthy lifestyle. When talking about healthy eating it is important we use the Eat Well Plate as a template. This template highlights the different types of food that make up our diet and shows the proportions we should eat them to achieve a healthy, balanced diet. Remember currently a minimum of 5 pieces of fruit or veg per day is recommended and it is also important to base you foods on starchy product as this is our main energy source. Foods high in fats and sugars such as fizzy pop, crisps, chocolate etc. should be capped at a maximum of 2 portions per day, but remember a 500ml bottle of pop generally contains 2 servings. So don’t get caught out!

The catering department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital has completed the healthier catering award previously commissioned by Blackpool Council. The award acknowledges establishments who are mindful of healthy eating and those who are helping promote healthier choices to their customers and patients.
