Professional Registrations

Changes to the professional registration policy affecting Health Care Professionals.

From 1st April 2014 the new combined Professional Registration policy came into effect.

The Changes for Ex Community Staff are:

  • Staff will no longer receive reminder letters at 28 days and 14 days prior to expiry dates as per the old North Lancs/NHS Blackpool Policies.
  • Report showing a list of staff due to expire will now be emailed to Matrons/Team Leaders mid month for them to action accordingly.
  • A final report is extracted identifying staff who have not registered and this will be sent to the Assistant Director of Nursing for immediate action.
  • If a registration lapses the Matron/Team Leader must meet with employee to advise they are unable to practice. This will result in:
    • Suspension without pay until registration can be confirmed.
    • An investigation under the Trust’s Disciplinary Procedure.

The Changes for BTH Staff are:

  • If a registration lapses the Matron/Team Leader must meet with employee to advise they are unable to practice. This will result in:
    • Suspension without pay until registration can be confirmed.
    • An investigation under the Trust’s Disciplinary Procedure.

The Professional Registration Policy provides the framework for staff, who are required to be registered with a statutory regulatory body in order to practice in their speciality. It also ensures that they remain eligible to practice.
