Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3

Role – A first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team. Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Who – This apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this apprenticeship to develop their knowledge and skills.

Delivery Model – This apprenticeship can be completed in the workplace

Duration – Typically 12-18 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, Functional Skills English and maths at level 2 will be completed alongside the apprenticeship.

Link to Professional Registration – On completion, you may choose to register as Associate Member with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of leadership and management. The Operations and Departmental Manager Level 5 is available as a progression route option to those that have completed the Team Leader Level 3 apprenticeship.

Operations and Departmental Manager Level 5

Role – Managing teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy. Accountable to a more senior manager. Specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same.

Who – This apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this apprenticeship as a progression route from the Team Leader Supervisor Level 3.

Delivery Model – This apprenticeship can be completed in the workplace

Duration – Typically 24-28 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, Functional Skills English and maths at level 2 will be completed alongside the apprenticeship.

Link to Professional Registration – On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered management institute and/or the Institute of leadership and management, and those with 3 years’ of management experience can apply for Chartered manager status through the CMI. Level 6 Chartered Manager and L7 Senior Leaders apprenticeship Standards are also available.

Chartered Manager Level 6

Role – A Chartered Manager is someone who can take responsibility for people, projects, operations and/or services to deliver long term organisational success, with the professional recognition of their ability to deliver impact, behave ethically and demonstrate their commitment to continual learning and development. Specific job roles may include: Manager; Senior Manager; Head of Department; Operations Manager

Who – This apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this apprenticeship as a progression route from the Operating and Departmental Manager Level 5.

Delivery Model – This apprenticeship can be completed in the workplace

Duration – Typically 48 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, A Level or relevant Level 3 qualification.

Link to Professional Registration – Successful apprentices will have the option to apply for professional recognition as Chartered Managers and Members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI) and/or as a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management or other relevant professional body.

Associate Project Manager Level 4

Role – An associate project manager knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost, and works with the project team to achieve the required outcomes. Associate project managers need good planning, organisation, leadership, management and communication skills.

Who – This apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this apprenticeship to develop their knowledge and skills.

Duration – Typically 24-28 months including End Point Assessment (EPA)

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, and hold a minimum of 48 UCAS points or equivalent.

Link to Professional Registration – Upon commencement, apprentices may become student members of the Association for Project Management (APM) as the first step of professional membership. Apprentices will be eligible for associate membership upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Full membership can be attained through further experience and professional development.

Project Manager Level 6

Role – Project managers are responsible to the project sponsor/owner for the end-to-end delivery of a project or a subset of a project dependent on the complexity and criticality to the business. They will have an appreciation of programme management techniques and an understanding of how projects are managed within a larger programme.

Who – This apprenticeship can be used to support new members of staff into the organisation as apprentices. Existing members of staff can also enrol onto this apprenticeship to develop their knowledge and skills or as progression from the Associate Project manager Level 4 apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements – If English and maths at Grade C/4 have not been previously achieved, A Level or relevant Level 3 qualification.

Link to Professional Registration – On successful completion, apprentices are eligible to become full members of Association for Project Management (APM), the Chartered Body for the Project Profession.
