Supervisors, Assessors and Educators

The Practice Education Facilitators hope that this web page will provide you with up to date information that will help when you are facilitating learning, supervising and assessing in the clinical setting.

Supervisor and Assessor Training - NMC

Under the new NMC Standards for education, supporting learners is the responsibility of every NMC registrant.
In order to fulfil this standard ALL NMC registered Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff MUST attend adequate training.

This can be completed through online training through the following resources:

Nursing: Anglia Ruskin University Practice Supervisor and Assessor Course - Nursing

Midwifery: Anglia Ruskin University Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor Course - Midwifery

Nurse Associate: Anglia Ruskin University Practice Supervisor and Assessor Course - Nursing Associate

Please send a copy of your certificate(s) to the PEF team on completion so that they can set you up with the relevant accounts. Email the PEF team: bfwh.pef@nhs.net

Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)

The Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) states that over the course of your career, you may be expected to supervise or support colleagues and students. HCPC standards for education and training (5.7) states that practice educators must take regular training which is appropriate to their role, learner needs, and delivery of the learning outcomes of the programme.

This can be completed through online training through the following resources:

Practice Educator and Assessor Preparation (PEAP) - Health Education England HEE elfh Hub (e-lfh.org.uk)

You will be asked to register for an account, then you can add the course to your learning account. You do this by searching for 'Practice Educator and Assessor Preparation (PEAP)'. The course has been designed to prepare you to become a supervisor or assessor. HCPC registrants need to complete all 8 modules in order to become a supervisor or assessor. Each module takes about an hour to complete. You do not need to complete the training in one go.

Please send certificates to the PEF team on completion so that they can set you up with the relevant accounts. Email the PEF team: bfwh.pef@nhs.net

Education/Alternative Qualification

If you have previously completed an educational qualification (PGCE, Mentorship etc) then please attend an update session and complete an Assessor Self Declaration Form.
