Learning and Development Manager - Leadership

Jane Crompton:

I am passionate about the NHS and it is rewarding to work within a compassionate and caring organisation.   I feel NHS employees act with a high degree of professionalism who want to continually learn, improve, and develop and my role enables me to help you become your “best selves”.

My approach as an internal consultant is to ask the right questions and listen to managers’ answers rather than give advice and solutions without understanding the issues.

My areas of focus are:

  • Design, delivery and co-ordination of leadership programmes.
  • Design, delivery and co-ordination of our Technical Mastery Management programme.
  • Internal consultancy work around leadership culture.
  • Programme management of coaching and mentoring
  • Implementation of organisational development interventions.
  • Influencing compassionate leadership culture throughout the Trust.
Karen Levesley

Learning and Development Manager

Karen Levesley:

In pursuit of providing continuous professional development for all staff, it is my mission to implement an effective and attractive training catalogue that meets the needs of individuals, teams and the Trust. Providing excellent patient care is at the heart of what we do and why ensuring our staff have the knowledge and skills is paramount. Wanting our staff to be the very best version of themselves starts on day one, which is why my role is also responsible for developing the BTH induction programme.

My areas of focus are:

  • To provide all new starters with an engaging and effective induction programme to help them to find their feet, understand the vision and values of the BTH family and complete mandatory training to keep themselves, colleagues and patients safe.
  • Carrying out a Training Need Analysis, using data from appraisals, to identify what training is required across the Trust.
  • Devising and delivering training (such as appraisals and dealing with challenging situations confidently and other soft skills training).
Samantha Landon

Organisational Development Practitioner

Sam Landon:

My role is to support and organise the OD & Leadership Development offer to ensure that you have access to relevant, appropriate and inclusive L&D opportunities. I’ m committed to making a difference to your working life; ensuring that you have all the information and knowledge that you need to make informed decisions about your professional & personal development - enabling you to make tangible, lasting and positive change. I’m friendly and enthusiastic about supporting everyone on their development journey…which is key to my role!

My areas of focus are:

  • Personal and professional development through MBTI,   HLM360 Feedback, Coaching & Mentoring.
  • Offer support through Mediation for when working relationships go a little off balance
  • Leadership & Management Development Programmes
  • Organisational Development interventions
Beverley Bowes

Learning and Organisational Development Facilitator

Beverley Bowes:

My role is pivotal in making early contact with, and providing induction information to our new starters prior to their start date and during their induction. I ensure that they feel valued and part of our BTH family through our newly revised induction programme.  I take great pride in making a good first impression to new starters on behalf of the Trust.

It is my mission to support an effective and attractive training portfolio that fulfils the needs of individuals, teams and the Trust. Providing excellent patient care is at the heart of what we do and why ensuring our staff have the knowledge and skills is paramount.

My areas of focus are:

  • Keeping in touch with new starters prior to their start date and during their induction. Ensuring they feel valued and supported and part of the BTH family. I maintain the Trust and Local Induction compliance records.
  • Supporting our team with Appraisal/Leadership/Pre-retirement training.
  • Supporting the design and development of training packages, most recently Taking Minutes.
Sharon Bryson-Walsh

Manual Handling Advisor

Sharon Bryson-Walsh:

My endeavour is to assist in keeping patients and staff safe in everyday manual handling activities by ensuring we have safe systems of manual handling practice across the Trust.  I will provide guidance and training to ensure appropriate use of manual handling equipment.  Promoting best practice and raising awareness of appropriate manual handling techniques and working postures to reduce cases of patient harm and staff musculoskeletal injuries.

My areas of focus are:

  • Provide guidance on manual handling related issues
  • To lead the manual handling training with the assistance of our Manual Handling Champions
  • To ensure the appropriate manual handling training is available across the diversity the Trust footprint
  • To raise awareness of appropriate postures and the importance of self-care while at the Trust
  • Assist with manual handling and workplace assessments
  • Work closely with appropriate stakeholders to ensure the appropriate manual handling equipment is available as and when required
