Financial Assistance

On top of the benefits you receive through Blackpool Teaching hospitals, there are various external organisations that can provide you with help and advice relating to other sources of financial assistance

Listed below are some organisations that can give you guidance and support regarding any financial assistance you may be entitled to.

Paying for Childcare

Visit the Family and Childcare Trust's Paying for childcare website, for information about the financial support available to parents to help with their childcare costs. The website includes a Tax Credit Checker  - an online tool which will help you to decide whether you are eligible to claim the childcare element of Working Tax Credit.

Working Families Helpline

The charity Working Families can help parents and carers with all of their questions on their rights at work.

Parents and carers can contact the Working Families Helpline on 0800 013 0313 for free advice and support. The Helpline team are there to answer queries on maternity and paternity rights, parental leave, time off for dependants, and problems in negotiating flexible working.

The advisors can also help with queries on benefits and tax credits for families, such as Maternity Allowance, the Sure Start Maternity Grant and how tax credits are affected by maternity leave and having a new baby. Help is also available by emailing advice@workingfamilies.org.ukor visiting their web site.

Nursery Education Grants

All children qualify for a grant-funded nursery education place from the term following their third birthday.

SureStart Maternity Grant

For more information on claiming for the SureStart grant, please follow the link below.

Forms can be collected from your local Job Centre Plus, by asking for a Sure Start Maternity Grant form SF100. If you have access to the internet, you can log on to http://www.dwp.gov.uk/, and print off the electronic copy of the form.
