Professional Registration is intended to protect the public, making sure that those who practice a health profession are doing so safely.  The appointing manager must check that the candidate has the relevant registration at interview and the Resourcing Team will check the registration of health professionals with the relevant regulatory body as part of the pre-employment checks.

It should be a ‘contractual condition subsequent’ that the healthcare professional has registration throughout their employment.  In the event that an individual has no registration, the employment will have been deemed to have ended by operation of the law.
