The Clinical Education department provides the infrastructure and staff to facilitate the education, training and continuing development of Medical and Non-medical professionals.
Clinical Education incorporates the following teams:
Medical Education - supporting medical trainees and students, physician associates, and SAS and Locally Employed Doctors. Our Undergraduate Medical team also co-ordinate and support medical work experiences places.
Practice Education Facilitators - Supporting and coordinating non-medical learners on placements within the Trust throughout their programme. Such as Pre-registration professionals: Midwives, Nursing, Allied Health professionals and more. The team also also responsible for newly qualified professionals within the Trust during their preceptorship programme.
Placement hub - the placement hub ensures the monitoring of learner capacity and the enhancement of learning experience for all learners within the Trust.
Widening Participation and Apprenticeships - (Located at 42 Whinney Heys road). The team are responsible for supporting and coordinating Apprenticeships, Work Experience, Widening Participation, and the allocation of the NHS England 'Continual Professional Development (CPD) fund.
Library & Knowledge Services -The library contains resources available for all BTH staff and Learners to use whether you are in a clinical or non-clinical role. These include study spaces (including three quiet rooms), and access to print/digital copies of books, journals and database.
Simulation and Skills team -The Simulation & Clinical Skills (SCS) Centre of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is located in a purpose built centre on the second floor of the main hospital site. The dedicated team within the unit are committed to simultaneously assisting individuals or teams to reach their full potential whilst at the same time meeting trusts core objectives of improving patient safety, and increasing staff proficiency and morale.

Here at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals we are fortunate to provide placements for a vast amount of Training healthcare professionals. However, we understand that it may not always be possible for departments or divisions to know the needs of every learner type. The Education teams are always on hand to support however the teams have compiled our Learner booklet to help offer guidance to our staff and departments.
