Target Audience:
All candidates looking to complete the adult basic life support train the trainer course should be suitably qualified and/or experienced within our Hospital Trust. Acceptable health and social care qualifications and experience include:

- Registered nurse, allied healthcare professional, medical practitioner, healthcare assistant etc.
- Practical experience and understanding of the principles of people moving
- Relevant experience working in a healthcare/social care setting
- The physical capability required for practical people moving and handling
Learning outcomes:
The objectives of this adult basic life support instructor course are to empower the trainer to deliver comprehensive courses to their staff. Instructors will be able to:

- Provide the learners with a clear understanding of the legislation regarding basic life support & cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Provide the learners with a full understanding of the current Resuscitation Council (UK) 2015 guidance for adult basic life support & resuscitation
- To inform learners how to give essential CPR to individuals including the use of an automated defibrillator (AED)
- How to manage the Choking Person
- How to place someone into the recovery position
- A brief understanding of DNACPR
- To help learners understand the risks/legal status surrounding CPR
- To provide essential basic life support training resources in an engaging and meaningful way
- To provide a FREE blended learning environment that is available to all individuals in the clinical environment
This course aims to provide staff with the confidence and competence to effectively deliver adult and paediatric basic life support,
BLS instructors will train a variety of staff from HCAs, RGNs doctors and AHP’s and it is important to maintain a professional approach to training whilst ensuring that staff are assisted and supported in undertaking their mandatory BLS training requirements for the organisation.
The BLSi course is a ½ day course, followed by an annual ½ day refresher course to maintain your BLSi instructor status.
