I have a member of my team who is suffering with a back condition at the moment – can you supply them with a new chair please?
No. A work station assessment should be carried out. A copy of the HSE VDU assessment form can be found in your OHD resource file. This is an easy tool to follow and is ideal for this purpose. This should identify any adjustments or equipment that may be required. Simple measures should be considered e.g. adjusting chair height or providing a foot stool. If new equipment is identified as being required, this is the responsibility of your department.
I have a wellbeing suggestion, who should I speak with?
For suggestions that are specific to your team or department you should raise them with your Line Manager.
However, for suggestions which may benefit your colleagues across the organisation please contact Joe Ratcliffe on 01253 (9)57958.

I’m pregnant but feel fine – do I need to be seen by you, and does my manager need to do anything?

Copies of these documents can be found in your OHD resource file or alternatively you can access this via the staff intranet.

My manager will not refer me to Occupational Health although I currently have problems. I need some advice and guidance – am I able to refer myself?
Yes. OHD would encourage seeking a manager referral to support you, and help promote a good outcome. However, if you have problems in obtaining this, you should contact OHD to speak to one of the nurses. They will be able to advise you and complete a self referral for you, if necessary.

One of my clinical team has presented in work today with sore, sticky eyes. What should they do?
This could be conjunctivitis. They should be asked to attend their GP, or a pharmacy to seek treatment (there is a Lloyds pharmacy available in the main hospital building). They are able to continue to work on non clinical duties, as long as strict hand hygiene is adhered to.If antibiotic therapy is taken, they may return to clinical duties after 48hrs of treatment.
