Benefits / Facilities

We recognise that it is the valuable contribution that our staff make which allows us to provide an effective healthcare service.

The Trust attaches a great level of importance to supporting staff and assisting them in maintaining a work-life balance. A wide range of family-friendly and employee-friendly policies and procedures are in place to help staff work more flexibly. In addition we offer help with childcare arrangements and provide other staff benefits and facilities.

Flexible Working

Flexitime

This gives staff the choice about their actual working hours, within agreed core times. This means that staff can vary their starting and finishing times each day at work. The flexitime system is available to a wide range of staff within the Trust.

Self Rostering

This gives team members with more control over their work times. The scheme is available on a number of wards providing nurses and other staff who provide a 24-hour service the opportunity to determine their own working patterns.

Job Sharing

Job sharing opportunities are available in varying capacities across the Trust. This provides increased opportunity for staff to achieve a work-life balance, while maintaining responsibility and team working.

Compressed Hours

Allows staff to work the same number of hours and therefore maintain the same level of pay but spread their working hours over fewer days.

Term-time working

Helps staff with children of school age, balance their working life and home life. This allows staff to work their full or part time hours during term time and be with their families during the school holidays. While this may not be a practical option in all areas, it is actively supported.

Career Break

Allows staff with two or more years service to apply to have an unpaid break from employment to pursue other interests for a period of between three months and two years. At the end of break staff are able to return to the same or a similar job.

Flexible Retirement

Gives members of the NHS Pension Scheme a number of options when approaching retirement age.
