Trust Community Clinical Tutor writes book about her experiences

Jane Wilcock

A Community Clinical Tutor at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has written a book on her experiences.

Jane Wilcock , is employed by the University of Liverpool and works at Blackpool Victoria Hospital one day a week teaching the year 4 students about general practice.

Her book is about modern general practice based on her experiences in teaching over the years as a GP, with 31 years of working in her practice.

She said: “This is the first publication which I have been involved in writing. I wanted a modern look at doctor and health care professionals’ consultations which is fun to read and provides up-to-date knowledge for all learners.

“Consultations have altered over the last 10-15 years and this consultation book discusses how the four different areas of: rules and regulations’ ethical aspects, how the consultation and evidence based medicine come together,  to create the modern consultation. There is also a number of useful online resources.

“The book is aimed at all stages of medical training and the scenarios are based in general practice. It is suitable for doctors, including trainees and allied health care professionals.

“The book seems to have been well received, which is very pleasing and has been recommended for students and trainers at Hull-York university school of medicine.

“My next project is a book for patients, improving their understanding of consultations, to enable them to get the most of out their interactions.”

Jane has worked at Blackpool Victoria Hospital teaching year 4 medical students since 2010 and says she  feels a part of the hospital team.

The book is available to buy online from Amazon.
