The Patient Experience Team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital is preparing to collect food and blankets to give to patients who live alone and are on a low income at Christmas.

Team members will be on a stand in the main entrance of the hospital on Tuesday, December 15, between 11am and 2.30pm to collect any donations.

Local charities have been invited to have a display to raise awareness of the work they do and what support will be available over the Christmas period for people living on the Fylde coast.

The Patient Experience team would like to invite staff, visitors and members of the public to donate tinned soup, baked beans, bags of dry pasta and rice, tinned tomatoes, instant mash potato, tinned sponge puddings, small cereal boxes, teabags, coffee, UHT milk and unwanted blankets.

These will be passed on to The Salvation Army, who will co-ordinate the distribution of a small hamper and blanket to patients, who live alone, are on a low income and do not have family nearby and are discharged from hospital between Christmas and New Year.

The Patient Experience Team can be contacted on 01253 955520 or 01253 953548.
