A group of kind-hearted former NHS employees has given a special Christmas present to the Neonatal Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Branch of the NHS Retirement Fellowship presented knitted snowmen, baby clothes and blankets to staff on the unit on Monday, November 30.

Catherine Nash, Ward Manager for the Neonatal Unit, said: “We put together a bag of presents for every baby on the unit at Christmas.

“We leave the bags out on Christmas night so they have them on Christmas day.

“We’d like to thank the fellowship for taking the time to knit the snowmen and clothes. We really appreciate what they have done.”

The Neonatal Unit cares for any baby born early or with a medical condition for as long as he or she needs to stay in hospital.

Sylvia Bagot, fellowship secretary, said: “We would be pleased to welcome new members to our group who are about to retire or have retired from the NHS.”

The fellowship meets at 1.30pm on the third Tuesday of the month at St Martin’s and St Hilda’s Church Hall (next to the Castle Gardens Pub) in Carleton.
