Calling all nurses to Blackpool Victoria Hospital recruitment event this Saturday

BLACKPOOL Victoria Hospital is set to host an open recruitment event in February in conjunction with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

The event is aimed at the March 2020 intake of student nurses, apprenticeship trainees, registered nurses, registered apprenticeship nurses, trainee nurse associates, return to practice nurses, second and third year student nurses, newly qualified nurses and physician associates.

Louise Paramel, Clinical Education and Quality Manager at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We usually recruit in partnership with UCLan as they provide the academic studies and we provide the clinical placement and a top quality, supporting learning environment.

“We have been aiming to increase our student nurse cohort figures for the last few intakes and in line with our ‘Growing our Own Fylde Coast Family’ campaign, we want to recruit from our local community.

“There will be support from all of the divisions and senior staff from across the Trust taking the opportunity to fill their nursing vacancies and showcase the work of teams here at the Trust.

“Staff will be providing stands and be present on the day to welcome potential new employees and showcase their work, giving an insight into the roles and patient care we provide as an organisation.

“The Clinical Skills and Simulation manager has kindly offered to accommodate this event within the Clinical Skills Centre and will be opening the doors to the Simulation Suite showing learning opportunities we provide to students and employees at the Trust. We look forward to welcoming our visitors.”

The event is being held on February 1 between 10am and 2pm in the Simulation and Skills department on the second floor in area 2 of the hospital. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day.

The Bench team and Preceptorship Coordinators will be present to also recruit staff and students. The recruitment team is also supporting the event and will be able to facilitate interviews on the day.

APPLICATIONS:

The Trac applications have been closed for the Apprenticeship Trainee Registered Nurse (TRN) (internal) and Apprenticeship Trainee Associate Nurse (TNA) (external and internal) posts.

We have received enquiries from potential candidates that did not get round to applying online and are now worried they have missed the opportunity. It was not a requirement to apply online to gain an interview, however due to the sheer volume of applications, we have had to close the vacancy and allocated interview time slots to the candidates that have the essential qualifications. We will still offer interviews on the day or at a later date.

We are still encouraging candidates to attend the event, even those members of staff that applied but who did not get an interview, so please don’t be discouraged. Our staff and UCLan will be on hand to give helpful advice and information for future progression.

VISITORS PLEASE NOTE: You will need to sign in at the door; Kristie Butterfield will be there to take names, hand out recruitment packs and direct you in to the unit.
