Tell us your Blackpool hospitals’ NHS hero

Have you visited your local hospital trust recently and been bowled over by the care from a particular member of staff or team?

Blackpool hospitals’ People’s Health Hero Award is your chance to say a big thank you to someone who has gone that extra mile for you or your family during what are extremely challenging times for NHS colleagues.

The people’s hero is one of 10 awards that will be presented at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust annual Celebrating Success staff awards on 16 March.

Chief Executive Trish Armstrong-Child said: “At a time when we’re asking more than ever from colleagues, some will still tell me ‘I’m just doing my job’ – but it’s always so much more than that.

“This year especially, the 75th anniversary of the founding of the NHS, I really want to hear from local people about the great care you’ve had in the People’s Health Hero Award.”

At last year’s awards, advanced nurse practitioner Katie Lander was honoured for the support she gave to a new mum whose child was suffering from severe heart failure.

Afterwards, she said: “I had spent a lot of time with this lovely family and their poorly baby but to be nominated was a huge honour. I always try to do my best in my job and so to be highlighted for this was very unexpected but very lovely.”
