To mark the very first National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day, we are showcasing some of the many different roles in estates and facilities around our Trust.

Michelle Rigby – Admin Support

How long have you worked in the NHS?
Eight years.

What is your role in the NHS?
Accommodation / Main Entrance Administrator.

What does your role involve doing?
Arranging residential accommodation for Medics, Overseas Nurses and Medical Students.

Receptionist duties in the Main Entrance, providing directions, appointment information and various other enquiries.

What is the best thing about working in the NHS Facilities Division?
Being able to provide an excellent service to patients, visitors, and staff.  Also being able to personally develop my skills/ knowledge in the working environment by undertaking NVQ programmes.

What is the most challenging thing about working in the NHS Facilities Division?
Working throughout the pandemic has been very challenging from a personal point of view and, also arranging for residents to isolate when required which has resulted in limited accommodation available.  Also dealing with relatives of patients who were not able to visit their loved ones, could be very upsetting.

How do you improve/enrich/enhance a patient’s journey?
By helping patients, staff and visitors to find the area they are attending, as it is a large place to try to navigate.
