Can you help sponsor a bike ride?

Colleagues at Blackpool Victoria Hospital are raising funds for a Fylde coast charity by completing sponsored bike rides.

Rebekah Anderson is fundraising for the Bike for Heroes project that has been donating free bikes to NHS staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. They have donated more than 100 bikes now and fund the project themselves.

She said: “We are fundraising by completing a sponsored 500 mile bike ride over a three week period and trying to raise money so the project can continue and help them buy tools and equipment to fix up the old bikes.

“I was hoping to raise some awareness and hopefully generate some more sponsorships.

“My lovely friends are The Bikes For Heroes Project. They have picked up, refurbished and delivered more than 110 bikes over the course of the pandemic.“I myself am a nurse at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, I have a great passion for cycling and many of my colleagues have received bikes through this project.

“The project has been self- funding for four months through the entire pandemic. They have received very few donations apart from bikes so now is the time I feel I must act to make sure this project can continue to bless NHS Heroes.’’
