A huge thank you to everyone

THE last few weeks have been extraordinary for us all.

The Coronavirus pandemic has affected each and every one of us and will continue to do so for some time.

I have been involved in healthcare and public services for a long, long time and dealt with some major issues over the years, but it’s fair to say I have never known anything quite like this.

These are unprecedented and worrying times for us all. The demands on us are huge and will be huge for some time to come. I have always been immensely proud to work for the NHS and, as it stands at the moment, I don’t think I have ever felt prouder.

I am proud of you all too and I want to thank every single member of staff across all our areas for everything you have been doing to support patients – and your colleagues – in this hugely trying time for everyone.

We know people want answers quickly to reassure them and we, together with the communications team, are doing our utmost to keep you informed with accurate information without overburdening you.

It is important you know exactly what is happening and when and that you are fully informed about changes or developments so please look out for and read the daily bulletins that are being sent out and Kevin McGee’s regular updates.

Please remember to follow the advice about staying at home, social distancing, hand washing and avoiding gatherings – and keep passing these important messages on.

As well as looking after our patients it is also vital that we all look after ourselves too. Please do all you can to keep
healthy and please look after yourself and your colleagues.

Over the next few weeks we will be producing more communications about looking after yourself. One thing I would
like to point you to is the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which is a free, confidential support service
available to staff and their immediate family members 24 hours a day. Please see the information and guide we have
produced on Page 7 and 8 of this week’s Weekly News.

Thank you all once again for all you are doing. You are all remarkable.
