The Chief Executive of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals has planted a tree to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Trish Armstrong-Child was on hand to help plant the Beech tree in the grounds of Blackpool Victoria Hospital at a ceremony also attended by Trust Chair Steve Fogg.

The tree was planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative created to mark the Jubilee and which encourages people and organisations across the UK to play their part in helping the environment.

At Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, the tree planting was one of a number of initiatives taking place around the Trust to mark the Jubilee week.

These included cupcakes provided for colleagues and patients and a butterfly house which is being created at the front of Victoria Hospital’s Outpatients department as part of a national scheme to transform old phoneboxes.
