A staff member who helped support a young patient to attend an appointment at Blackpool Victoria Hospital has received a Going the Extra Mile award.
Joanna Betts-Grave, a CT Radiographer, has been qualified for 13 years and joined the Trust seven years ago.
She was nominated for the award by Melissa Gregan, a Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner from the Child Exploitation Team.
Melissa highlighted the lengths Joanna went to, supporting a young, vulnerable boy.
The patient had been reluctant to attend his appointment, but Joanna stepped in to help, arranging for the boy to attend in a very short time, ensuring colleagues were aware so there was no delay.
In her nomination she wrote: “She was friendly and welcoming and that’s just what this child needed.” She added that the child would “attend further appointments due to this very good experience.”
Joanna said: “I was just doing my job, doing what I do for everybody. It’s lovely to be nominated but I really didn’t expect it.”
Going The Extra Mile is an initiative designed to help staff highlight the incredible work that goes on in the Trust every day.
