Nominate staff for Good Morning Britain Health Star Awards

Health Star Awards 2016Do you know someone who is a health star?

Good Morning Britain’s Health Star awards recognise the best of British healthcare and if you know someone who has gone above and beyond to help patients and families the show wants to hear about it.

You could nominate a hospital consultant, a junior doctor, a mental health practitioner, a GP, a community nurse or just an ordinary member of the public.

The three categories viewers can nominate in are:

  • Hospital Health Star – anyone who works or volunteers in a hospital in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man
  • Lifesaver Health Star – a professional or member of the public, who has saved someone’s life
  • Community Health Star – anyone who works in the health service or local community

The Good Morning Britain judging panel will decide the winner in each category and the winners, their nominees and a guest will all be invited to a special awards ceremony in London on April 14, 2016 – hosted by Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.

Susanna Reid said: “From the day we are born and throughout our whole lives we meet people who are involved in our health care.

“From those who work in the NHS to volunteers for charities, I’m sure we’ve all encountered someone who has helped with a health-related issue and who we’d like to properly thank, there are certainly individuals I can think of.

“This April, GMB wants to recognise and reward some of these exceptional people in our first Health Star Awards.”

Piers Morgan said:  “There’s nothing in the world more important than good health. All of us have been struck at some time in our lives by illness or injury. When it comes, we rely on others to aid us, treat us and care for us. The people who do this are special people and deserve to be recognised.

“I am delighted that GMB is hosting the inaugural Health Star Awards as they will shine a spotlight on those who most deserve it – the nation’s doctors, nurses, surgeons, care workers and charity staff who all do such a fantastic job.”
