Last day for Blue Skies’ Memory Matters scheme. Don’t miss out.

Blue Skies Month is running throughout June.  It is a time not only to raise awareness and funds for a much loved charity but also to go out and enjoy yourself whilst doing something for others.  It’s the opportunity to get friends, families, colleagues and neighbours together to do something fun or that you’ve always wanted to do but not got around to. So please challenge yourself for Blue Skies in June.

There’s a serious side to this too.  During the week 19 – 23, June Blue Skies Hospitals Fund have linked with Ellen Fay Solicitors who are waiving their usual fee for preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney in return for a donation to Blue Skies.  This will enable you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions about your property and financial affairs or health and welfare at a time if you are no longer capable of making those decisions for yourself.  This offer is for preparing the documents and does not include registration.

Ann Hedley, Interim Head of Fundraising said:

“People are becoming more aware of Lasting Powers of Attorney but many are still cautious thinking that they are losing control over the decision making process.  Using this scheme people can explore the idea and fully understand it.  The paperwork can be put in place and only activated when needed.

“Many organisations run offers to make a will but as far as I know this is the first Power of Attorney offer and we are so grateful to Ellen for supporting this initiative.  The usual cost for putting a Lasting Power of Attorney in place is between £350 and £550 plus vat.  So we think that this is an offer worth taking up.’’

If you would like to know more about this offer or to make an appointment please contact Ellen direct quoting Blue Skies on 01772 722373.  Alternatively contact Ann on  01253 955766 or by emailing ann.hedley:bfwhospitals.nhs.uk.

* Please note that the fees above are for preparing the documents and do not include registration.  Lasting Powers of Attorney can’t be used until they have been registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, if anyone is interested in registering the Lasting Power of Attorney then there will be additional legal costs (this is not included in the offer) as well as potential Court Fees.
