Head of Midwifery honoured by the Queen

BLACKPOOL Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to report that Nicola Parry, Associate Director of Nursing and Head of Midwifery, was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

British Empire Medals are awarded for an outstanding achievement or service to the community which has a long-term, significant impact and stands out as an example to others.

Head of Nursing and Quality, Marie Thompson, said the Trust was “proud’’ of Nicola’s award.

She said: “It is a real credit to Nicola to be acknowledged in the Honours list for her outstanding contribution to the midwifery profession.

“Nicola has worked tirelessly in her role as the professional leader of the Trust Maternity and Children’s services. She has supported staff to develop services that are at the forefront of innovative care.

“Nicola’s passion for midwifery, women’s health and family services and her inspirational drive to ensure the best in care has earned her this honour.

“The Board of Directors is extremely proud of Nicola’s honour which is a major achievement for her and the Trust.’’
