Empowering Blackpool cancer patients with calendar launch

CALENDARS featuring positive images and messages from cancer patients across the Fylde coast have been launched for 2020.

The ‘With Cancer I Can’ calendars have been produced by the Macmillan team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and can be purchased for a donation in the Windmill Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The idea for the calendar came from Simone and Alan Robinson who wanted to showcase the inspirational achievements of people affected by cancer whilst giving people receiving diagnosis somewhere to store all of their appointments and treatment dates.

Kerrie Newsham from the Macmillan team ran the 2020 Calendar competition. She said: “All the photographs included were submitted by people affected by cancer from our local area and judged by our Patient Cancer Care Improvement Group.

“It was a struggle to select the final 13 as the submissions were all so amazing. We are delighted to be able to give these out to people who have been affected by cancer.

“It is also really good for our patients to write their future cancer appointments in so they have that reminder but in form of a book full of quotes from inspirational people.”

The calendars can be bought from the Windmill Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
