Call to Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre residents and Trust staff to become Governors at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking new Governors to help shape its future.

Candidates are being sought for seven Public Governor positions within various constituencies across the catchment areas, and three from the Staff Governor categories.

The Trust would like to hear from as many people as possible who are interested in having their say on how healthcare should be provided for the populations it serves. The elections will be held in February 2021.

The role of the Governor is to represent their respective local constituency and to support and help influence the Trust’s decision-making processes in terms of how it develops and delivers services for the people of Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre, Lancashire and beyond.

Mr Pearse Butler, Trust Chair, said: “Governors are vital to the success of a Foundation Trust. The role is interesting and rewarding but also requires time and commitment.

“Governors contribute to a Foundation Trust being managed appropriately, with a number of statutory responsibilities including; the appointment of the Chair, Non-Executive Directors and External Auditors, and holding the Non-Executive Directors to account.”

Governors must be a member of the Foundation Trust. A membership application can be completed online at: www.bfwh.nhs.uk or by contacting the Corporate Governance Team on 01253 951505. In order to be eligible to stand for election applicants will need to have joined by the close of nominations on Friday, January 22, 2021.
