A Fylde Coast cardiologist will be pulling at very different heart strings when he leads a charity concert this week.
Dr Kenneth Wong, a Consultant Cardiologist in the Lancashire Cardiac Centre at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, will be a guest performer with the Fylde Sinfonia at a concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 30, to raise money for the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.
Mr Wong, an accomplished classical pianist, will be performing Rachmaninoff’s powerful and famous Number 2 Concerto (2nd Movement).
He said: “It is an amazing piece of music and very difficult. I have been practising for up to two hours a day regularly and in musical terms it is like preparing to run a marathon.
“I am looking forward to it though as the event is for a great cause as a mobile ECHOCARDIOGRAM machine will bring a huge amount of benefits to staff and my patients.”
He will be joined by fellow NHS worker Bev Straker-Bennett, a Senior Practitioner Anticoagulation Services, who will be playing the flute in the orchestra.
She said: “I have been involved in the Fylde Sinfonia for about four years now and absolutely love it.
“There are so many talented musicians in the group that it is always a fantastic experience and I know people will really enjoy this concert which is for a great cause.”
Tickets for the event, which is being held in the school hall at Arnold/KEQMS (AKS) School, Clifton Drive South, cost £10 for adults and £5 for children.
