Response

Our Response

To clarify, the data below does not suggest all these results were from Hospital Acquired Covid-19, but represent sequential results produced by our own laboratory tests. Our Trust does not have record of patients we tested positive that had a previous negative test in the community.

1. I can confirm the number of patients who initially tested negative for Covid-19 on admission to hospital, where sequential results produced by our laboratory testing recorded a positive Covid-19 result between 30/11/2020 and 31/01/2021 was 487.

2. The number of these patients who subsequently died was 95.

3. Our Trust does not hold this information in an easily accessible format. This data is not readily available and would require a manual trawl through patient records which would constitute a disproportionate effort to retrieve. Whilst it would be possible to review all patient records involved to determine reason for admission, it has been estimated that it would require in the region of 40 hours’ work to complete, we are therefore applying the section 12 exemption.

In addition, to provide further detail could potentially lead to identification of the individual breaching their confidentiality, therefore we are exempting this information under Section 40(2) of the FOI Act.

The information in this response is provided under the terms of the Open Government Licence. Please see here for more information:
