Subject
Medical Directors
Description

1). Please provide a list of all trust medical directors, substantive and interim, who have been appointed since 2011.

2). Please advise why Dr Nick Harper does not appear as medical director in either the 2011/12 or the 2012/2013 trust annual report when there are media reports that he was appointed medical director in 2012, and the trust tweeted on 19 March 2012 that he had been appointed medical director

3). Please disclose correspondence between the trust and the National Guardian’s Office about the visit to the trust by Russell Parkinson on 24 June for the regional Freedom To Speak Up meeting, as publicised by the trust:

Response

1). 1st June 2006 – April 2012 Medical Director Dr Paul Kelsey

9th April 2012 – 31st July 2019 Medical Director Professor Mark O’Donnell

2). Dr Harper was successfully appointed as Medical Director following a rigorous recruitment process in March 2012, however Dr Harper decided not to accept the position of Medical Director. The Trust did announce that Dr Harper had been successful in being appointed as the Medical Director in March 2012 however a further announcement was made that Dr Harper had declined the role. The annual report therefore would not show that Dr Harper was the Medical Director at this time as he did not hold the role.

3). The National Guardian’s Office encourage Guardians from around their region to meet 2-3 times each year to discuss any developments and to network.

At each meeting, we ask for volunteers to host the next meeting.  Blackpool have offered to host the meeting on more than one occasion and finally got to host the meeting here in June 19.

The meetings are voluntary and we don’t always take notes but each attending person has the option to write their own notes for any matters of interest.  Formal minutes are not therefore always taken, but sometimes notes are shared.
