Response
1 Is parking available for doctors? Parking is available for medical staff. Permits for medical students and FY1’s/FY2’s who do not take up residential accommodation is limited to 40 permits per annum and is managed by the Medical Education Facilitators.
2 How much does a permit cost, and where can it be purchased from? Cost of a parking permit is as follows;

Medical Student – £15 per month

Fy1/ FY2 and ST grades – £20 per month

Consultants – £30 per month

Permits are issued following receipt of completed authorised application form from the car parking office

3 Is free parking available near the hospital, and how easy is it to get? Free parking off site is available within a 5 minute walk from the hospital, staff park up to 20 minutes walk away .
4 Is secure bike storage available? Is it indoors/outdoors? Free secure outdoor cycle shelters are available as are a limited number of individual secure lockers for which there is a waiting list. All cycle storage areas are covered by CCTV.
1 Is there a doctors’ mess room within the hospital?  

Yes

3 Are there facilities for cooking in the mess?  

Yes a microwave

1 What public transport options are available to get to the hospital? There are several bus companies who provide a service to the hospital. Electronic signage is located in the Main Entrance and Outpatients Department as are paper timetable, also on the company websites.

A train service also operates into Central Blackpool and is five minute bus journey by taxi or a 15 minute bus journey.

1 What options are available for food within the hospital? Staff/visitor restaurant full meal service, breakfast, lunch, supper, coffee shop
2 What are these establishments’ opening hours? 7.30am – 7.00pm Mon- Fri staff restaurant. Sat/Sun 7.30-2.00pm
3 What options for food are available out-of-hours? Vending machine and retail shops
1 Is accommodation available for junior doctors? Where is it located?  

Yes, all hospital accommodation is on the hospital site.

2 What is the cost of a single room for a junior doctor per month?  

£424.58 or £460.17 per month inclusive of all bills.

2 If so, where? In the Education Centre
3 How can doctors get access? Doctors (and all staff) can use the library at any time during the day, or out of hours if they have completed a registration form.
1 Is free WiFi available to doctors, and if so, what is the code? The Trust operates a free at point of use Public WiFi at both hospital sites. There is no code as users must authenticate to use the system. There are several means of authentication, for example Facebook or Google.
2 What IT systems does the Trust use for blood results, prescriptions, and EHR? The Trust uses Clinisys LIMS for blood results and Ascribe for prescriptions. The Trust does not have an EHR system, but uses multiple specialist electronic systems and physical case-notes.
