Children’s artwork brightens up hospital ward for Christmas

Staff from Ward 37 showing the Christmas display

YOUNGSTERS from a Marton primary school have brought some festive cheer to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Pupils from the St Nicholas Primary After School Club have presented some Christmas cards and drawings to Ward 37 to cheer up patients and staff over the Festive period.

Health Care Assistant Lesley Wallis, who works on the ward, is behind the idea.

She said: “My sister works at the school and we thought it would be a good idea to get the children to do some artwork as part of the after school activities.

“We got loads of cards and drawings and they are now on show on the ward. The feedback has been great and they have really brightened the ward up.”

Ward Manager, Dawn Jebb, said: “The staff on Ward 37 are always looking at ways they can make the environment for patients as good as it can be and this is a fantastic display that the patients love.

“As well as doing this Lesley has knitted a stocking for every single patient on Christmas Day and the staff have bought a present for every patient who will be on the ward on Christmas morning.”
