The group involved in the #DareToBeGreat project arranged by Fable Arts and Ludus Dance enjoyed some #dementia awareness training yesterday with Clifton Ward 1 Manager Linda and her team.
Fable Arts, together with Ludus Dance and staff at Clifton, invited 12 young people from across Fylde aged between 16 and 25 to work together to create their own dare to be great situation at Lytham Festival 2017.
The young people will look to find the stories that have steered the lives of local people, now living with dementia and turn this into a performance.
Next week, the group will be talking to patients at Clifton and turning their memories into dance to be performed at the Lytham Festival.
They also all signed up to be Dementia Friends. A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action
Following Linda’s presentation, the group were taken through a reminiscence session with Jimmy O’Donnell from Lancashire Memories who provides high quality and bespoke interactive sensory sessions using old objects, music, film images and conversation.
Anthony Briggs, of Ludas Dance, said: “It was wonderful! Very informative. We have lots of ideas now.”
Ward Manager Linda Broadbent said: “It was great to see these young people so engaged and enthusiastic about the project. I am sure our patients will love meeting with them next week and sharing some memories.”
