There are three major clinical trials open here in Blackpool for the treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia.
They are as follows:
- AML17 – a trial for the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia under the age of 60. Initial patient information sheets for entry into this trial are Patient Information Sheet 1, Patient Information Sheet 2 and Patient Information Sheet 9.

- The VALOR trial is a trial for patients whose AML has either not gone away with initial treatment (refractory) or has come back (relapsed). It uses a drug called cytarabine with either another drug called vosaroxin or placebo.
