You won’t be without care this bank holiday

Your GP practice might be closed this bank holiday Monday but you will still be able to pre-book a GP appointment if you need one as well as accessing a range of other health services.

Bank holidays are notoriously busy for health services as GP practices are closed for the day and people aren’t sure where to turn to if they need advice. Fylde coast health commissioners have ensured there are more services available to meet the needs of patients, whatever their ailment.

If you need to book an appointment to see a GP or healthcare professional you can do so through the extended access service which gives people access to appointments later in the evening and at weekends. The team will be offering appointments as normal from Whitegate Drive health centre (6.30pm-8pm).

In Fylde and Wyre, appointments will be available at Freckleton Health Centre from 10am to 2pm and at Fleetwood Health and Wellbeing Centre in Dock Street  from noon to 6pm. You should contact your own GP practice before the bank holiday to book one of these appointments.

Pharmacies are also an excellent place to seek medical advice for minor ailments. Pharmacists are trained professionals with a wealth of knowledge on how to treat all sorts of conditions. Though some may be closed over the bank holiday below is a list of those that are open on Monday 27 August.

If you’re not sure you can call NHS 111 which will be able to advise you where to go.

You should only call 999 or go to A&E if it is a serious or life threatening emergency.
