Ward moves at Blackpool Victoria Hospital today and this weeekend

Patients and visitors to Blackpool Victoria Hospital today and this weekend are being advised that a number of wards are being relocated.

The work is part of the hospital’s new strategy which requires a move in some wards to help provide a more efficient service for patients and staff in the future.

The Surgical Assessment Unit will transfer to the Combined Assessment and Treatment floor, relocating from Ward 10 to Ward 19.

Ward 19 will transfer to Ward 18 and Ward 18 will temporarily transfer to Ward 10.

Director of Operations at the Trust, Pat Oliver, said: “Patients and visitors to the hospital will see a lot of movement taking place between wards.

“We have developed detailed plans which support the moves to ensure patient safety and quality of care is not compromised.

“The ward movements are an essential part of our new strategy which aims to make sure we get the right patient treated in the right ward in the hospital. The moves will make us more efficient in the future by bringing services closer together.’’

All existing patients have been informed of the moves and signs will be put in place around the site to help visitors get to the right areas.

All telephone numbers will remain unchanged and patients and relatives are being informed prior to the move.
