Volunteers take a picnic in the park

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals’ army of dedicated volunteers may have been out of action due to the recent hospital restrictions, however that didn’t stop the Trust celebrating their contribution by giving them a picnic in the park this week.
Thanks to a donation by the hospital’s Blue Skies charity, the volunteers were treated to specially prepared picnic boxes from Taylors of Cleveleys.
The event was also attended by Janet Barnsley, Executive Director of Integrated Care and Performance and Feroz Patel, Executive Director of Finance who handed out the food parcels to our deserving volunteers.
Speaking about the success of the picnic, Catherine Henshaw, Voluntary Services Team Leader at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals said: “It was lovely to see so many volunteers in the park, it was really great day for it.

“I would just like to say a big thank you to Blue Skies Hospital Funds for providing the volunteers with picnic boxes specially made from Taylors of Cleveleys.  The picnics were really tasty and the surplus went to our Emergency Department for them to enjoy on break, as they are so busy.”I’d also like to thank Ocean Palace, Humblebeez, The Flower Bowl, The Sandcastle, Blue Skies Hospital Fund, The Sealife Centre, South Lake Zoo, Tommy Shakes, Blackpool Eats, M&S, Greggs, Pastels, The Village Hotel and  Costa for the wonderful raffle prizes.

“We raised a whooping £290.00 for Blue Skies Hospital fund and thoroughly enjoyed the day and can’t wait to welcome all our volunteers back on site at some point in the future.”
