Trust Chair to stand down next year

TRUST chair, Pearse Butler, has announced his intention to stand down from the role in January 2021.

In a message to staff Pearse, who was appointed Chair in June 2018, having previously served as the Chairman of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, said: “I have made the decision with a heavy heart and after very careful reflection, but believe now is the time for me personally to step down from the role. I have moved to Derbyshire over the last few weeks and feel I now cannot give the Trust Chair’s role, the time and commitment I feel it needs.

“It has been a privilege to lead the Trust over the past two years and while we know there is still a way to go, I believe that the Trust has made great strides in its improvement journey.

“I am proud of what our staff have achieved and of the care that we provide each and every day to residents across the Fylde coast and beyond and it has been a pleasure to work with so many hard-working, gifted and talented colleagues.

“Having laid the foundations, I feel the time is right for a new Chair to take over and lead the Board in meeting the challenges ahead.

Kevin McGee, Chief Executive, said: “Pearce has achieved so much in his time as Chair of our Trust.

“His strong leadership has helped improve both the quality and safety of everything we do for our patients and we are proud of all that our staff have achieved during his time in charge.

“I am very grateful for all that Pearse has done and I wish him the very best for the future when he leaves.”
