Blackpool Teaching Hospitals have received a generous donation of books for the Children’s Ward thanks to Skye Brierley.

Skye was diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma at Christmas in 2017 , an inoperable tumour in her head, behind her nose, and eye and subsequently spent much of the next year on the Children’s Ward at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. When Skye was undergoing chemotherapy she very often would get a temperature and would be admitted to hospital for 48 hours of isolation and antibiotics, during this time she got to know nurses and staff very well.

Because of all the care she has received Skye has wanted to give something back and in 2019 collected donations of brand new games for the Children’s Ward. In 2020 she raised funds to pay for a End of Treatment Bell for the Children’s Ward and this year, to share her love of reading, she has donated a number of brand new books to the ward and this week donated them just in time for Christmas.

Thank-you Skye and Merry Christmas.
