Children in the UK and abroad will receive special gifts this Christmas after kind donations from a team of NHS workers.

The Anticoagulant department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital came together to make special gift boxes as part of the Samaritans’ Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’ appeal.

The collection was coordinated by Lorraine Stuart from the department.

She said: “I saw the video for the appeal and when I saw the look of joy on the children’s faces when they opened their boxes I knew I had to do something.

“I asked members of the team to support the campaign with me and the response was brilliant. Everyone came together to help and we are delighted to be able to send the boxes off.

“I only saw the video recently but now I know more about the campaign we will make sure we make it even bigger and better next year.’’

The boxes will be taken to Thornton Methodist Church for distribution.
