Dear colleague

Congratulations on your appointment as a senior doctor within our Trust. We are delighted that you have chosen to work at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We want you to feel welcome and valued and have therefore put together this page with information that we hope you will find useful in your first few weeks of your new role.

We want to be a truly clinically led organisation where we demonstrate our Trust values of ‘people centred’, ‘positive’, ‘compassion’ and ‘excellence’ in all our interactions with patients and colleagues. Recognising that the first year as a new consultant can be challenging, we will enrol you on our in-house new consultant induction programme, designed to help you become acquainted with your new work environment. It provides the opportunity to meet new colleagues across the Trust and includes practical and process elements of your new role whilst offering you the opportunity for personal reflection and development.

As part of your general induction you will be invited to meet Professor O’Donnell, Medical Director and Ian Johnson, Trust Chairman within the first few months.  I would be delighted to meet you individually so please feel free to contact my PA Anita Ivett on 56993 if you would like to see me.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to supporting the learning and development needs of its staff. These development activities are formalised by a jointly agreed Personal Development Plan, which is based on the post-holder’s annual appraisal, job or education plans and job description. Once personal development plans are agreed these should form part of the Divisional /Directorate/Departments overall training plan and ultimately the Trust training plan.

Accessing The Training and The Systems You Need in Your Role

The Health Informatics Education & Training team have introduced the e-Class learning management system (LMS), offering a flexible blended approach to learning to meet the needs of a 24/7 healthcare service.

e-Class is an automated system that will allow you to schedule your training requirements for clinical systems such as CyberLab/Rad, MaxIMS ADT and EMIS Web.
