Readers’ Panel

Volunteers on the Readers’ Panel review new and revised patient information leaflets for content and relevance and to make sure that the information is understandable, clear and concise. Guidance will be provided to any new volunteers.

The provision of high quality, appropriate and timely patient information is an integral part of the care we provide and the contribution of our Readers’ Panel members is an important part of the process.

Janet Carpenter who has been on the Readers’ Panel for six months said “I feel like I am contributing towards helping to provide a better service to patients. Being a patient myself, I find that the patient information leaflets are a great source of information and usually help to provide reassurance about a procedure. I am quite new to working at the hospital so proof-reading the leaflets helps me learn about what is done in the different departments. At the last Readers’ Panel meeting, I was able to meet other members and discuss our views. I realised how the panel members were from very varied backgrounds.”

We are currently recruiting new volunteers within many of our voluntary groups. If you would like to express an interest in volunteering with us, or you require any further information, please check our Volunteer Vacancies page.
