QSIR Fundamentals 1 day course:

NHSI QSIR (Quality, Service Improvement and Redesign) Fundamentals course is a one day programme that offers participants an introduction to a range of tried and tested service improvement tools and  approaches that give them the confidence and skills to start on their improvement journey.  

It is suited to both clinical and non-clinical staff who wish to get involved in their own local quality and  service improvement projects. It also provides a valuable refresher for colleagues who may have used some quality  improvement tools previously or those have who have been involved in improvement projects in the past.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Anybody involved in Quality Improvement work or wanting to learn more;
  • All BTH Staff and Volunteers

What is covered?

  • Overview of Quality Improvement;
  • Using measurement and data for improvement;
  • How to design and test change;
  • Quality Improvement tools.

QSIR Practitioner 5 day course:

The NHSI QSIR (Quality, Service Improvement and Redesign) Practitioner course is delivered over 5 days.

You will learn about the theory of Quality Improvement: planning projects, engaging and motivating others, measurement, PDSA cycles, sustaining your improvements and applying these to a project within your work area. You will receive support and mentorship to undertake your QI project.

The teaching days will be interactive and will include both presentations from our faculty as well as group activities and discussion.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Anyone with an interest in improving the service in which they work;
  • We welcome applications from all disciplines and grades of staff.

What is covered?

  • Leading Improvement;
  • Using measurement and data for improvement;
  • How to design and test change;
  • Involving others in your improvement;
  • Quality Improvement tools.

What are the pre-requisites?

  • You will need your Line Manager’s support for attendance and commitment from yourself to complete an Improvement project.

How will I be assessed?

To pass the course you must meet the following requirements:

  • Attend all five classroom days;
  • Demonstrate application of QI methodology to your project;
  • Record your project on our QI database;
  • Share your work through a poster / presentation on Graduation Day.

What do I get for completing the course?

  • You will receive a certificate of completion and an NHSI QSIR Practitioner badge at the end of the training;
  • You will also become part of the BTH QI family;
  • You will be invited to further develop your skills as our QI journey progresses.
