What is Quality Improvement?

Quality Improvement is a structured approach with a clear methodology and systematic use of using evidence-based tools, processes and measurements to support and sustain improvements in the quality of care and outcomes we deliver.

Why is Quality Improvement important?

Improving quality is everyone’s responsibility. Quality Improvement is used to support continuous and sustained improvement in the quality of care and outcomes that we deliver. Quality Improvement helps by:

Bringing a systematic approach to tackling simple or complex problems
Focusing on outcomes and sustainability
Flattening hierarchies
Supporting creativity and innovation
Giving everyone a voice, and bringing staff and service users together to improve and redesign the way that care is provided
