Pacemaker Clinic

In this cardiac physiologist-led clinic all implantable cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices (CRT) and loop recorders, are monitored and changes to therapy can be made via specialist computers. Patients will first attend the clinic four weeks after implantation for wound and device checks to be made. During this visit the device can usually be tailored to the needs of the patients based upon the diagnostic data retrieved from the device and the patient’s experience over that month. Once a device has been implanted the patient will remain under follow-up for their lifetime. All lead technicians are specialised in the pacing field. These highly experienced technicians can also advise patients and relatives on all aspects of living their lives with an implanted device.
