He undertook his post graduate surgical training in the North West region. During his training, Mr Barker spent a period of time in the national Intestinal Failure Unit at Salford Royal Hospital which specialises in the complex surgical and medical management of patients with intestinal failure. Mr Barker’s clinical practice includes all aspects of colorectal surgery including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for bowel cancer. He also has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and colonoscopy. Mr Barker enjoys teaching and has undertaken a Diploma in Medical Education.
