People approaching the end of their lives can choose to be cared for at home, this includes care homes.
Community services are available, such as GPs, District Nurses, Social Carers, Hospice at Home and Marie Curie Nurses to support people and families/carers in their last week/days/hours of life.
‘Just in case’ medication can be prescribed and kept at home until a time may come when a person needs some medication to help with symptoms, e.g breathlessness, pain.
Equipment is available to support people to be cared for at home.
Training is available for all staff that offer care/support to the dying person.
