When the department receives the referral, the patient will then be sent an ‘opt-in’ letter asking whether they would like an appointment to see a Dietitian and are given 2 weeks to reply.
- Patients who opt-in are sent a convenient appointment at a locality clinic of their choice.
- Urgent case patients will be contacted by Telephone.

Patients will be discharged if no response is received within 2 weeks of the opt-in letter sent.
