The Community Intravenous Therapy Service, also known as COMMIT, is based at South Shore Primary Care Centre and run by a team of specially trained nurses, seven days per week. The service is available across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
The Community Intravenous Therapy Service administers a variety of intravenous medications to treat infections (such as cellulitis) and conditions (such as dehydration and anaemia). These treatments are administered safely and effectively in our Community Clinic, or at home for housebound patients, often without the need for hospital admission.
You may be referred into the service from your GP practice, or following a visit to hospital. The nurses regularly liaise with GP’s and hospital Consultants to ensure the treatment you receive is right for you.
